Most popular lunches according to children
Understanding the tastes of little eaters can be a big science. Or is it not? Thanks to the full digitisation of all our 260 Primirest school canteens and restaurants in the Czech Republic, the guesswork is over.
Spaghetti, roast sirloin in sour cream sauce and chicken cutlet - these are the three most popular school meals for children in the Czech Republic. Not only traditional "sauce dishes" compete with the favourites, but surprisingly for some, even vegetable couscous is not to be missed. This results from a detailed analysis of lunch menus consumed last school year in more than 260 Primirest school restaurants and canteens.
Spaghetti was the clear winner in the ranking of popularity of food and children's appetites, across different categories. Kids love it in the classic bolognese style - it's the absolute winner in the main course category.
The imaginary gold medal for the most popular soup goes to beef broth, but right behind are vegetable soups with couscous and buckwheat. In fourth place is the classic school carrot soup, and the top five are rounded off by leek and egg soup.
In the ranking of sweet dishes, last year's sovereign victory was defended by small yeast buns with custard (Dukátové buchtičky), which in this category clearly won over another sweet staple of school menus - semolina porridge with cocoa and alpine dumplings, which came in third place among children.
At the same time, Primirest kitchens do not forget about nutritionally balanced snacks. They are made daily, by hand and directly in the individual kitchens to ensure they are fresh and meet all the nutrition decrees (even the so-called "pamlsková vyhláška" snack decree). Among the snacks, children most often choose milk with cornflakes, a roll with butter and egg or broccoli spread.
